The Schneeberg
The king of the Viennese Alps rises high above the surrounding countryside, confirming its status as the highest mountain in Lower Austria at 2075 m. The Schneebergbahn railway transports you from the climatic spa resort of Puchberg up into this mountain paradise. Expect untouched nature, marked hiking trails and incredible views!

Fancy a day-trip...? The Schneebergbahn looks forward to welcoming you!

NEW Panorama Paradise
paradies.gifThe point of departure for the Panorama Paradise is our Hochschneeberg mountain station at 1,800 m above sea level. The well-marked circuit trail offers fantastic panorama views of the majestic alpine scenery round about.
From the Waxriegel peak, you experience a breath-taking 360-degree view of the Schneeberg massif and the Rax mountain, of the surrounding regions (including Waldviertel, Weinviertel and Bucklige Welt), of the provinces of Burgenland and Styria and as far as the Hungarian plain.
As our audio guide (available at the mountain station) leads you round about the Waxriegel, you learn much about the flora and fauna as well as historical and cultural aspects of the mountain.
Assisted by our new audio guides, explore the Panorama Paradise.

The Salamander
Our train takes you 10 km closer to heaven on this tour into the high-alpine region of the Schneeberg. Lush meadows, the scent of coniferous forests and the magnificent panaroma of the beautiful mountain scenery pass you by as the tour makes its way up the mountain at a leisurely pace. When you finally alight at Austria's highest railway station (1,800 m above sea level) you will be impressed by the performance of this little train.

Our Salamander trains have overcome an altitude of 1218 m on a journey of 9.8 km. Now it's your turn to enjoy the beauty of our mountains or the culinary delights on offer...
