Circular route on the high plateau of Schneeberg - from the mountain station of the cog railway to the summit at Klosterwappen (2,075 m) - excellently accessible by public transport!
Description
The summit of the Schneeberg, the highest mountain in Lower Austria, can be climbed on this tour via mountain hiking trails. The ascent to the starting point at the summit station of the Schneebergbahn cable car is either a leisurely train ride or a hike from Puchberg along the cog railway hiking trail. At the summit station, you can first enjoy the breathtaking view and visit the mountain inn or the Elisabethkircherl. Children can romp around on the highest children's playground in Lower Austria, the Salamander playground, and have fun in the Sei jungle. Then the hike can begin. Before you reach the summit, you can stop off at the Damböckhaus. The route then continues over the Ochsenboden up to an altitude of 2076 meters to the Klosterwappen, the highest point in the whole of Lower Austria. Once you have soaked up the feeling and the view, it's a few meters downhill where you can stop for refreshments at the Fischerhütte. On the way back, you pass the Damböckhaus again and finally return to the summit station. A true Paradise of Scenic Views!
If you want to hike further over the Schneeberg from the summit, you can do so on the 14th stage of the Wiener Alpenbogen - Arc of the Viennese Alps (trail) trail!
When planning your hike, please note the information on altitude, route length and walking time so that the tour remains a pleasant experience for the whole family.
